Lothian street involved the conversion of an existing two storey commercial building into three separate units requiring an additional two floor levels. Our original scope was the design and documentation of the required structural and civil works, however our involvement quickly broadened to construction stage services as the existing structure had numerous issues including inadequate founding and spalling/poorly constructed suspended concrete beams and slabs. The provided solutions included underpinning to portions of the existing foundations and repair of existing concrete beams to facilitate the addition of structure over.
